The vast majority of today’s applications are made up of open source components. The 2021 “Open Source Security and Risk Analysis” (OSSRA) report, conducted by the Synopsys Cybersecurity Research Center (CyRC), found that 75% of the 1,500+ codebases analyzed were composed of open source. Understanding what’s in your codebase is essential, and for M&A transactions it’s one of the key drivers for performing software due diligence.

We’re excited to share that we have enhanced our partnership with Atlassian. In support of this partnership, today we are releasing full availability of the new integration, which natively embeds Snyk into Bitbucket Cloud for security. The Snyk security integration is free and easy to set up with just a few clicks inside the Bitbucket Cloud product. For the first time, developers can consume information that was previously only available inside Snyk now within Bitbucket Cloud.

Commencing just before 1000hrs UTC on June 8, 2021, widespread reports of high-profile websites being unavailable began to surface with visitors to these sites receiving ominous looking error messages (Figure 1). Figure 1 - Example outage message 'gov.uk' Initially, many of these error messages returned a HTTP error '503', advising the user that the service is unavailable, and these originated from a 'Varnish cache server' HTTP accelerator that was attempting to serve the intended content.

We’re pleased to announce our new extension for Visual Studio, making it easier for developers to stay both secure and compliant as they code within their favorite IDE. The extension supports Visual Studio 2015, 2017, and 2019. Snyk’s new free extension for Visual Studio enables developers to easily find and fix both known vulnerabilities and license issues in their open source dependencies, helping them address security early on and ship secure code faster.

We recently released the automated Falco rule tuning feature in Sysdig Secure. Out-of-the-box security rules are a double-edged sword. On one side, they allow you to get started right away. On the other, it can take many working hours to learn the technology, configuration, and syntax to be able to customize the rules to fit your applications. Falco’s default security rules are no different.
