Fireblocks has launched support for Base mainnet, a new Ethereum L2 blockchain incubated by Coinbase that aims to “bring the next billion users on-chain.” Fireblocks users can now access Base with the ease, efficiency, and security they’ve come to expect from our platform.

The Fireblocks cryptography research team has uncovered BitForge – a series of zero-day vulnerabilities in some of the most widely adopted implementations of multi-party computation (MPC) protocols, including GG-18, GG-20, and Lindell17.

This vulnerability allows an attacker to extract a full private key from a wallet implementing Lindell17 2PC protocol, by extracting a single bit in every signature attempt (256 in total). Coinbase WaaS, Zengo and other libraries have been patched.

This newfound vulnerability allows an attacker to extract a full private key from any wallet using the GG18 and GG20 protocols. More than 10 wallets and libraries have been found vulnerable, including Binance custody.

Gate.io, a leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 platform, has been successfully integrated into the Fireblocks Network. The exchange was able to connect seamlessly to the Network by using the Fireblocks Network Link, a powerful API standard that enables any crypto exchange to quickly and natively integrate into the Fireblocks ecosystem.

Imperium Markets has completed Australia’s first atomic settlement, or the instantaneous swapping of an asset for payment, with the eAUD – issued as central bank digital currency by the Reserve Bank of Australia. Utilizing Fireblocks’ battle-tested tokenization technology, Imperium Markets’ pilot saw two major banks – Westpac and Commonwealth Bank – successfully issue and invest in certificates of deposit.

In the pursuit of advancing security and transparency in the digital asset industry, Fireblocks has published our MPC-CMP code as open source under a limited license, along with the rest of our MPC library. As the demand for digital asset custody, tokenization, and Web3 among retail and financial institutions continues to rise, Fireblocks MPC-CMP has proven to be the most secure and reliable key management protocol.

Today, Estonian crypto platform, Kriptomat, launches its new Kriptomat GameFi Web3 Wallet for over 400,000 non-crypto native users to access Web3 games. The new offering was built using Fireblocks Web3 Wallet Link. Web3 games have yet to tap into the massive $120 billion mobile gaming market due to the intimidating and complex user experience.
